[1] In the early 1960s Charles H. Babcock (1899-1967) gave the house and its contents to the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation. The house was then incorporated as a museum and collection (Reynolda House, Inc.) on December 18, 1964 with the signing of the charter at its first board meeting. The museum first opened to the public in September 1965.

DescriptionThe pedestal of this double-baluster three-light pewter table lamp rises from a square base supported on four lion’s paw feet. Each side of the base is decorated with a different pseudo-armorial shield in relief (several borne by supporters) highlighted with colored enamels. The four-sided lower baluster is decorated with figures in relief representing the four seasons, each holding suitable attributes that have been highlighted with colored enamels. The four-sided, elongated upper baluster is decorated with four different pseudo-armorial crests. The replacement shade of orange pleated silk is finished at top and bottom with a band of gilt-thread gimp.ProvenanceFrom 1964
