DescriptionThe center table, designed in the style of Roman classicism, has a thick round marble top with molded edge supported on an elaborate iron (steel) and brass base. The base is held up from the floor on three large gold-colored lion’s paw feet that support a double triangular frame in which the two elements are separated by short turned brass columns. Gilded metal leaves ornament the three corners of the base and support three large open bowl-shaped elements made of wrought iron straps that scroll outward and which are ornamented with applied leaves and berries colored with green and red enamels. Three wrought iron and enameled dahlias separate the large scrolls. Mounted above the tops of the scrolled straps is a round gallery of turned brass baluster-shaped columns separating two large iron circles on which the marble top is placed.

Notes:
[1] In the early 1960s Charles H. Babcock (1899-1967) gave the house and its contents to the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation. The house was then incorporated as a museum and collection (Reynolda House, Inc.) on December 18, 1964 with the signing of the charter at its first board meeting. The museum first opened to the public in September 1965.
