DescriptionIn 1912, Katharine Reynolds, along with other members of the First Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem, established a Sunday school at the Wachovia Arbor School House, located near the corner of Arbor and Reynolda Roads, to determine if there was enough interest to warrant the establishment of Reynolda Church on the Reynoldses' new estate. The group of children standing in front of the automobile includes Nancy, Mary, and Smith Reynolds. Photograph was possibly taken by Katharine Reynolds.
ProvenanceOriginally part of the Reynolds Family Papers, the bulk of which was given to Wake Forest University by Nancy Susan Reynolds on 15 May 1976 and 22 February 1982. Other items were received by Wake Forest as transfers from Reynolda House, Inc. In 1993, the Reynolds Family Papers were transferred from Wake Forest University when Reynolda House Museum of American Art established its own Archives. At some point in the collection’s history, the photographs were removed and became their own distinct record unit—Reynolda House Historic Photographs Collection.
