[1] In the early 1960s Charles H. Babcock (1899-1967) gave the house and its contents to the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation. The house was then incorporated as a museum and collection (Reynolda House, Inc.) on December 18, 1964 with the signing of the charter at its first board meeting. The museum first opened to the public in September 1965.

DescriptionThe tall wrought iron tri-pod base stands on three cast iron ball-and-claw feet that are connected by wide curved legs to a “cage” supporting small scrolls and three cast-iron eagle’s heads. The base is connected to the long shaft with generous baluster form and reels are used mid-way and at the top of the shaft. The feet, eagle’s heads, and shaft ornaments are painted gold. The remainder of the lamp stand is painted black. The silk shade is a replacement.ProvenanceFrom 1964
