[1] In the early 1960s Charles H. Babcock (1899-1967) gave the house and its contents to the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation. The house was then incorporated as a museum and collection (Reynolda House, Inc.) on December 18, 1964 with the signing of the charter at its first board meeting. The museum first opened to the public in September 1965.

DescriptionThe Queen Anne-style rectangular piano bench has a walnut frame showing four cabriole legs with carved kneeds, flanked by leafy volutes, and ending in large tapered square feet. A shell and scroll ornament, dropping below the straight skirt, is centered on each side. The knees are carved with fleurs-de-lis in shaped frames. The tapestry upholstery features a profusion of multi-colored flowers with green leaves on a black background. It is attached to the frame with large brass hobnail tacks. ProvenanceFrom 1964
