[1] In the early 1960s Charles H. Babcock (1899-1967) gave the house and its contents to the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation. The house was then incorporated as a museum and collection (Reynolda House, Inc.) on December 18, 1964 with the signing of the charter at its first board meeting. The museum first opened to the public in September 1965.

DescriptionThis Chippendale-revival upholstered wing settee with single cushion has four walnut cabriole legs with foliate knees and scrolled feet. The gadroon-carved front stretcher has a framed rosette in the center flanked by two scrolls. Exposed gadrooned walnut rails continue around the settee. Reupholstered in mauve velvet, the settee is trimmed with a metallic gimp accented in red-orange on the outside of the wings and arms. Brass tacks follow the shaped rails around the settee.ProvenanceFrom 1964
