[1] In the early 1960s Charles H. Babcock (1899-1967) gave the house and its contents to the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation. The house was then incorporated as a museum and collection (Reynolda House, Inc.) on December 18, 1964 with the signing of the charter at its first board meeting. The museum first opened to the public in September 1965.

DescriptionThe neoclassical punch cup has a bulbous body with everted rim prominent foot and c-scrolled handle. The repoussé decoration of several different flowers around the body echoes the ornament on the rest of the punch set. Inscriptions on other pieces in the punch set indicate that the set was presented to Mrs. Reynolds by Mr. Reynolds on the occasion of their fourth wedding anniversary in 1909. The term repoussé refers to a type of decoration in metal rendered in deep relief by pressing or hammering on the reverse. This repoussé floral pattern in silver is typically associated with nineteenth-century Baltimore silversmith Samuel Kirk.ProvenanceFrom 1964
