The Millhouse Legacy

Barbara Babcock Millhouse (b.1934) is a granddaughter of Katharine and R.J. Reynolds and the founding president of Reynolda House Museum of American Art. She has dedicated a large part of her life to untangling the mysterious ways in which art functions. Since founding Reynolda House in 1967, she has guided the development of one of the great national collections of American visual art, collectively representing what may be the greatest gift of fine art in North Carolina history. This gallery assembles works that she has donated to the museum, wholly or in part, from the mid-1960s through 2024.
